The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Olivedos's Abel de Godoi got a free kick in the 11th minute. Trindade Atlético Club's Tiaguinho Correia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Trindade Atlético Club from getting a goal against them. Olivedos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luisinho Ceresso in the 31st minute. Luisinho Ceresso made a great header on Olivedos's corner, it was just that Trindade Atlético Club's Tiaguinho Correia managed to reach the ball for a save. Tiaguinho Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magno Sampaio in the 37th minute of play. In the 39thth minute of the game Róbson Couto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 48th minute Abel de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiaguinho Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Olivedos's supporters rose to their feet, but Abel de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiaguinho Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurinho Dias in the 72nd minute of play forced Olivedos's goalkeeper Abelardo Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
