Felipe Ros charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felipe Ros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pablo Justin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Marcos Cotilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pablo Justin in the 53rd minute of play. But to his dismay, Hong Jian Jun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Ahmet Bülent Özgur made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Abraham Alguacil sent off a good shot on target. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramond Abila in the 64th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Cordeal in the 71st minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pablo Justin in the 73rd minute of play. Marcos Cotilla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 84th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Berganza to maneuver through the defense. Pablo Justin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isidoro Sarmiento got free with Ahmet Bülent Özgur in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pablo Justin in the 91st minute of the match. After 92 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cambeiro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pablo Justin in the 93rd minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Benjamin Cordeal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
