Justino Loramendi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. 12 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cesar Peyo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Panama's Marcos Cotilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Panama from getting a goal against them. Tomas Berganza hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Jaroslaw Niezgoda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Compostela FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaroslaw Niezgoda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcos Cotilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Compostela FSCMZ's Chicão Cerezo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Marcos Cotilla. That made the score 2-1 after 24 minutes of play. In the 28th minute, Chicão Cerezo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Cotilla. The goal made the score 3-1. Cesar Peyo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 31st minute of play. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justino Loramendi in the 37th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Panama's Felipe Ros got a free kick in the 40th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chicão Cerezo got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcos Cotilla didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 5-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Jaroslaw Niezgoda made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Jaroslaw Niezgoda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Panama booed when Compostela FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dragoş Ţiţeica didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justino Loramendi in the 67th minute of play. Jaroslaw Niezgoda scored 6-1 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Compostela FSCMZ's Cesar Peyo got control of the ball when Isidoro Sarmiento tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Compostela FSCMZ getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Tadeo Gomez hit a great ball. Compostela FSCMZ's Jefferson Sousa was substituted for Dragoş Ţiţeica. Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Naldo Figueiredo replaced Robert Kornatowski. After 76 played minutes Compostela FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Tadeo Gomez. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 79th minute of play. The Compostela FSCMZ fans cheered their team off the field, for while Panama had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
