Thanks to some nice moves Jacinto Galeno could shoot a difficult shot in the 21st minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. In the 22nd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Epifanio Intxixu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Epifanio Intxixu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jacinto Galeno in the 43rd minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Águilas Poblanas made a substitution. Virgilio Txindoki replaced Jacinto Galeno. After a rather tough play, Águilas Poblanas's Klement Malik got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Virgilio Txindoki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlo Ciolli in the 61st minute of the match. Águilas Poblanas made a substitution. Águilas Poblanas's Eusebio Beltran got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 84th minute, which Alexandros Ismael however easily saved by the left post. After 84 played minutes Daniel Zorita rounded Águilas Poblanas's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. With a little luck, Águilas Poblanas's Alexandros Ismael got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 94 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
