Doni Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Godoi in the 15th minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Cesinha Dias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Villaverde Celeste Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castanheiro SC the free kick. In the 25th minute, Marcelo Eger sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Villaverde Celeste Clube's Alfredo Linares didn't even have to move. 27 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Sten came free, but Doni Seco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doni Seco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frederico Godoi in the 31st minute of play. In the 34th minute, Róbson Donato got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Júnior Alagoano came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Castanheiro SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Júnior Alagoano couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute Mauro Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Villaverde Celeste Clube getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Luiz Netto hit a great ball. Alfredo Linares acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 41st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Marcelo Eger. After a rather tough play, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Alberto Valladares got a free kick in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frederico Godoi was the one to do the kick off. Alfredo Linares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Júnior Alagoano went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Alfredo Linares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Júnior Alagoano notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Villaverde Celeste Clube's Alfredo Linares. Alfredo Linares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 64th minute, Giuliano David hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Linares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. With a little luck, Castanheiro SC's Doni Seco got control of the ball when Frederico Godoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alfredo Linares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júnior Alagoano in the 82nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Alagoano in the 82nd minute of play forced Villaverde Celeste Clube's goalkeeper Alfredo Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Mauro Sarmento made a precise shot to the right of Alfredo Linares. Villaverde Celeste Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After 91 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Seco. After a rather tough play, Villaverde Celeste Clube's Denílson de Souza got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Marcelo Eger struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Alfredo Linares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Castanheiro SC. Castanheiro SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
