Glauco Paranaense started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes Mamutes EC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Augusto de Lima. When Luís de Lara came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the CE LAJEADENSE RS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís de Lara couldn't finish the play. 17 minutes into the match, Luís de Lara notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Mamutes EC's Marcinho Fonseca. Marcinho Fonseca was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lauro Linhares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bola Forte in the 19th minute of play. Marcinho Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliézer Ramos in the 20th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Luís de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CE LAJEADENSE RS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mamutes EC the free kick. Marcinho Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís de Lara in the 30th minute of play. After 33 played minutes Eliézer Ramos rounded Mamutes EC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. When the match clock showed 36 minutes, the score became 2-1 when David Lima sped through CE LAJEADENSE RS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lauro Linhares. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Almir Damião made a kick off. Lauro Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute of the match David Lima sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lauro Linhares skillfully saved the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Lauro Linhares successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Mamutes EC booed when CE LAJEADENSE RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cléber de Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute of the match Mamutes EC got a corner. CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. David Lima ran over to the corner to take the kick. David Lima made a great header on Mamutes EC's corner, it was just that CE LAJEADENSE RS's Lauro Linhares managed to reach the ball for a save. The supporters of Mamutes EC booed when CE LAJEADENSE RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Ramos didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliézer Ramos in the 89th minute of play forced Mamutes EC's goalkeeper Marcinho Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Almir Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Lauro Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Mamutes EC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than CE LAJEADENSE RS.
