The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcinho Fonseca showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Gianluigi Donnarumma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Almir Damião in the 44th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Almir Damião stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Natã Sanches's late challenge caught a S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Natã Sanches helped the player get up and apologised. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mamutes EC had played much better football throughout.
