Xu Yi Lei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xu Yi Lei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Albi Martínez tried to sneak it across the goal line. City Friseur Wuppertal's Waldemar Ryback was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Waldemar Ryback hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xu Yi Lei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albi Martínez in the 15th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Xu Yi Lei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Xu Yi Lei quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Waldemar Ryback sent off a good shot on target. In the 28th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xu Yi Lei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Xu Yi Lei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Albi Martínez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Waldemar Ryback sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Xu Yi Lei made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute. Waldemar Ryback blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. City Friseur Wuppertal made a substitution. Cem Yılğıralp replaced Mehmet Oğuz Bayramoğlu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albi Martínez in the 61st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nebi Tokyürek came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Nebi Tokyürek left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The City Friseur Wuppertal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. City Friseur Wuppertal's Xu Yi Lei proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save City Friseur Wuppertal from getting a goal against them. Nebi Tokyürek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albi Martínez in the 67th minute of play. If Albi Martínez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 76 minutes into the match, City Friseur Wuppertal's goalkeeper Xu Yi Lei had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. After 76 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Xu Yi Lei was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Xu Yi Lei. Xu Yi Lei dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 90th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 91 minutes, Waldemar Ryback managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. City Friseur Wuppertal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Waldemar Ryback was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Albi Martínez went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score.
