In the 39th minute of the match, Fan Yuan Chuan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dante Lacasa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After recieving a nice pass, Mexico's Joel Gaona tried to score from far away in the 44th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 47 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Benito Illan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Mexico were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dino Simeoni was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Luca Zorita hit a great ball. Benito Illan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. 79 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Jose Milo came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Illan having to interfere. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jose Milo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Illan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Benito Illan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Mexico left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Tilili.
