A collision led to Defender Red Bull2.1 getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Rik Aalders hit a great ball. Panama's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Abraham Alguacil in the 31st minute. The corner led Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento to fire away a dangerous shot which Roelof Hesseling despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Auke Ruiter hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Roelof Hesseling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Abraham Alguacil got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Roelof Hesseling quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 38th minute, Miguel Miralles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Panama were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. If Louis Downs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Roelof Hesseling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 85 minutes into the match, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roelof Hesseling narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 90 played minutes Defender Red Bull2.1 got a freekick which was hit by Louis Downs. The referee felt a red card was in order, 97 minutes into the game, when Rik Aalders put in a rough tackle.
