A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, Şota Arveladze notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adrian Bobeanu to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Adrian Bobeanu sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. Milagros Fraga might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tanek Ostrowski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Milagros Fraga ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Şota Arveladze in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. Julian Murillo in the 64thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tanek Ostrowski, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 65th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efraim Gilabert to maneuver through the defense. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio-Roman Zabaleta in the 66th minute of the match.
