A well-hit corner resulted in Rodolfo Faria heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gonzalo Lixandro in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arsenio Cordeal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. were awarded a corner. Israel Carvalhal went to the cornerflag to take it. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Claudemiro Madureira got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute of the match Eduardo Tuzzio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Qiu Chuan Ran showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Faria in the 56th minute of play forced Plebeyos's goalkeeper Arsenio Cordeal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valentin Vergaray got free with Qiu Chuan Ran in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kåre Uter in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Qiu Chuan Ran saved Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. from getting behind. 61 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goal looked a bit too open when Valentin Vergaray came free, but Qiu Chuan Ran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arsenio Cordeal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. had won after a very even match.
