The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 2 minutes, Martinez Cines managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esmeraldas S.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Martinez Cines was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice moves İbrahim Volkan could shoot a difficult shot in the 4th minute, which Jonathan Ferrant however easily saved by the left post. After 7 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Martinez Cines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Maftei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Martinez Cines had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stefanos Terzopoulos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. İbrahim Volkan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. When Martinez Cines came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Esmeraldas S.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martinez Cines couldn't finish the play. After 61 minutes of play, Esmeraldas S.C.'s İbrahim Volkan made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Maftei in the 67th minute of play. İbrahim Volkan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Yan Zhou Xuan got a throw-in 73 minutes in the game and the ball was received by İbrahim Volkan. In the 74th minute Damian Maftei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Maftei in the 80th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Maftei in the 81st minute of play. In the 86th minute, Damian Maftei got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jose Correa charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jose Correa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Damian Maftei's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stefanos Terzopoulos was slow to take the kick. During this time Esmeraldas S.C.'s players had a chance to rest. The corner led Esmeraldas S.C.'s Celso Villamediana to fire away a dangerous shot which Jonathan Ferrant despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
