Philip Västerstrand might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Philip Västerstrand ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Philip Västerstrand in the 43rd minute. After 46 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. In the 47th minute, Philip Västerstrand got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
