In the 10th minute, Abdulkadir Sungun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The supporters of Ecuador booed when volibears was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximilian Viklund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Malatesta having to interfere. Aurelio Malatesta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Aurelio Malatesta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Malatesta having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, volibears's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Aurelio Malatesta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aurelio Malatesta. Aurelio Malatesta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abdulkadir Sungun in the 44th minute of play. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aurelio Malatesta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

In the 54th minute, volibears's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelio Malatesta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than volibears throughout the match.
