An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 3rd minute of play forced Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Gallegos Unidos's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roman Iza came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roman Iza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 13 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roman Iza was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 20th minute of play. Roman Iza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roman Iza stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play forced Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roman Iza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roman Iza having to interfere. Roman Iza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roman Iza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute of the match. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Roman Iza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emilio Nuno was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Emilio Nuno's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Emilio Nuno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Benito Txurio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rio Gallegos Unidos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to Rio Gallegos Unidos getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Benito Txurio hit a great ball. The long shot by Daniel Zorita in the 60th minute really tested Roman Iza's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. 70 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roman Iza. Rio Gallegos Unidos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 72nd match minute, Rio Gallegos Unidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulino Mancio to maneuver through the defense. Roman Iza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Paulino Mancio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roman Iza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 81 minutes into the match, Rio Gallegos Unidos's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Roman Iza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rio Gallegos Unidos made a substitution. Cesar Belo replaced Paulino Mancio. 87 minutes into the match, Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roman Iza was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Ecuador played a much better game than Rio Gallegos Unidos and deserved their victory. The Rio Gallegos Unidos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
