The supporters of Paraguay booed when PSG FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Asserlindh didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaime Pardo in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mickaël Landreau saved PSG FC from getting behind. But to his dismay, Hector Covarrubias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Paraguay's Jaime Pardo in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye PSG FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 27th minute, Paraguay's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Denis Vahirua fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. PSG FC's Mickaël Landreau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Covarrubias in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 35th minute of play forced PSG FC's goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute Hector Covarrubias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mickaël Landreau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Hector Covarrubias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mickaël Landreau. PSG FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hector Covarrubias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. 44 minutes into the game, Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mickaël Landreau made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With a little luck, PSG FC's Mickaël Landreau got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Paraguay played a much better game than PSG FC and deserved their victory. The PSG FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
