Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Joel Gaona took the kick off in the first half of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Chen Ao Fan came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronnie Hellström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 10th minute of play. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Kurt Hamrin sent off a good shot on target. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chen Ao Fan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Skövde AIK's Knut Rudberg got a free kick in the 25th minute. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. Ronnie Hellström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Hellström having to interfere. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Ronnie Hellström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Tafalla went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie Hellström having to interfere. In the 57th minute, Chen Ao Fan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Skövde AIK booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Cazalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Keegan in the 62nd minute of play. Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Skövde AIK from getting a goal against them. Skövde AIK's Jerry Williams was substituted for Kurt Hamrin. After 68 minutes Skövde AIK's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. In the 70th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Hellström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronnie Hellström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 75th minute. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Ronnie Hellström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 82 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Alberto Tafalla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Alberto Tafalla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronnie Hellström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ronnie Hellström made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Facundo Cadaval could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Ronnie Hellström made a huge save. Knut Rudberg hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. After 94 played minutes Skövde AIK got a freekick which was hit by Krister Uggstedt. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 95th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
