The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Daniël Isla in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With 80 minutes on the clock, Anthony Alvarado commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esteve Lando in the 83rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 87thth minute of the game Filomeno Bladi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peru's Rolando Noboa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
