Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aurelio Astudillo was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 26 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Griseld Løvaa tried in the 56th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Aurelio Astudillo a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 0-2. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Boğaç Altuncuoğlu's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Claudio Bucciarelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Aurelio Astudillo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute of play. 67 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Luis Andino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Aurelio Astudillo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 88th minute of play forced San Lorenzo 11's goalkeeper Aurelio Astudillo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when San Lorenzo 11 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Griseld Løvaa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aurelio Astudillo having to interfere. The San Lorenzo 11 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
