Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Alvaro Abar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Manuel Morais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Filiberto Pinto was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Augusto Ellande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montenegro to fire away a dangerous shot which Augusto Ellande despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Alvaro Abar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Augusto Ellande made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 31st minute of play. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 36th minute of play forced Mercedes's goalkeeper Augusto Ellande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Mercedes's Augusto Ellande. Augusto Ellande was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvaro Abar, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Mercedes's Alvaro Abar. But to his dismay, Alvaro Abar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Manuel Morais fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Morais, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Albino Feliu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mercedes's Jan-Ivar Nordmo was substituted for Alvaro Abar. Mercedes made a substitution. Honorato Kauldi replaced Albino Feliu. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Ellande breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Ivar Nordmo in the 61st minute of play. In the 65th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Augusto Ellande managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 72nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Ellande saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Augusto Ellande firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Ivar Nordmo in the 76th minute of play. In the 77th minute of the match Mercedes got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Anier Mon ran over to the corner to take the kick. Mercedes's Anier Mon was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 89th minute, Manuel Morais got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Augusto Ellande made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Honorato Kauldi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mercedes's supporters rose to their feet, but Honorato Kauldi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mercedes's goalkeeper Augusto Ellande, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Mercedes fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
