Alexis Stratigakis kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Viktor Sjöman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aris Voutsas in the 33rd minute of play. Thomas Papagiotopoulos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Viktor Sjöman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lars Nordmark scored 1-0 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Makis Tselementes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Petros Giannakis was the one to do the kick off. Takis Saltamaras's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Viktor Sjöman firmly grabbed it by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Thomas Papagiotopoulos got free with Viktor Sjöman in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Makis Tselementes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Nordmark in the 53rd minute of the match. Viktor Sjöman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petros Giannakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. ΠΑΟΚ FC's Kostas Triantopoulos was substituted for Thomas Papagiotopoulos. In the 60th minute, Gustaf Högström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Viktor Sjöman, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Västlund in the 76th minute of play forced ΠΑΟΚ FC's goalkeeper Makis Tselementes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 77 in the game by Aris Voutsas from a close distance when the talented Viktor Sjöman managed to make a qualified save. Newcastle United F.C.'s players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kostas Triantopoulos in the 79th minute of play forced Newcastle United F.C.'s goalkeeper Viktor Sjöman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
