But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petros Giannakis couldn't finish the play. FC Lassens's Viktor Bengtsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petros Giannakis in the 13th minute of play. Viktor Bengtsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petros Giannakis in the 17th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, ΠΑΟΚ FC's Petros Giannakis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Viktor Bengtsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Ingvar Löfdahl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Makis Tselementes made a huge save. Viktor Bengtsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aris Voutsas, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. A collision led to FC Lassens getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Birger Anundsson hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Petros Giannakis in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Viktor Bengtsson saved FC Lassens from getting behind. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Makis Tselementes successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 40 played minutes FC Lassens got a freekick which was hit by Ingvar Löfdahl. Viktor Bengtsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petros Giannakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. 46 minutes into the game, Lucas Vall was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Lassens's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ΠΑΟΚ FC the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jon Lassen to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, ΠΑΟΚ FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aris Voutsas to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petros Giannakis in the 59th minute of play forced FC Lassens's goalkeeper Viktor Bengtsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, FC Lassens's goalkeeper Viktor Bengtsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aris Voutsas. If Petros Giannakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of ΠΑΟΚ FC booed when FC Lassens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jörgen Lundström didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Petros Giannakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The ΠΑΟΚ FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Makis Tselementes should have stopped the shot. 95 minutes into the match, ΠΑΟΚ FC's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Gustafsson came free, but Makis Tselementes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petros Giannakis in the 97th minute of play forced FC Lassens's goalkeeper Viktor Bengtsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over ΠΑΟΚ FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Lassens throughout the match.
