The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 95th minute, one of Peru:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Peru. Peru:s Rolando Noboa showed great skill when he stopped Henry Fagerberg:s penalty. In the 96th minute, Henry Fagerberg made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
