An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 47th minute of play forced Minerul Baita -MM-'s goalkeeper Nistor Maghiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Allan Shearer made the kick off in the second half. Felix Ferenț blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. In the 54th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Felix Ferenț managed to get in a good position for a shot. Minerul Baita -MM-'s supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Ferenț was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Vlad Tepes fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Minerul Baita -MM-'s protests and gave Vlad Tepes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Minerul Baita -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vlad Tepes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Nistor Maghiar made a huge save. In the 67th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nistor Maghiar saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Nistor Maghiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Minerul Baita -MM-'s Qiu Wei Ting was substituted for Allan Shearer. If Felix Ferenț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niculae Şantău in the 78th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nistor Maghiar. That made the score 0-2 after 80 minutes of play. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Niculae Şantău kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Nistor Maghiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute of the match, Felix Montenegro got a very nice opportunity to score, but Nistor Maghiar was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Minerul Baita -MM-'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest.
