Norberto Heerdt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonardo Leoz made in the 13th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Lautaro Mancebo. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hanumant Arvø got free with Dante Lacasa in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Joel Gaona got a free kick in the 46th minute. Chinwo Krieser received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Dante Lacasa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Luca Rouco mouthed his way into the referee's book. In the 52nd minute, one of Mexico:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mexico. Facundo Cadaval could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Norberto Heerdt made a huge save. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
