Luisito Suárez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Lautaro Navarro made a huge save. Abdi Ufki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sebastian Villa in the 15th minute of the match. The supporters of Honduras booed when Legion of Boom was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Paulo Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Villa struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Abdi Ufki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. In the 19th minute, Luisito Suárez reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lautaro Navarro. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 22nd minute, Alexandre Valladares fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Edmundo Espiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdi Ufki having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Legion of Boom's João Paulo Moreira got a free kick in the 26th minute. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Valentín Carvallo hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Edmundo Espiga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edmundo Espiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Honduras's attentive Valentín Carvallo managed to snatch the ball when Adilson de Medeiros made a throw-in in the 39th minute of the game. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rony Teixeira in the 42nd minute of play. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chiquinho Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute, Adilson de Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The Legion of Boom fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Honduras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rony Teixeira was slow to take the kick. During this time Legion of Boom's players had a chance to rest. Rony Teixeira made a great header on Legion of Boom's corner, it was just that Honduras's Lautaro Navarro managed to reach the ball for a save. Edmundo Espiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Abdi Ufki made a huge save. In the 78th minute of the match, Rony Teixeira sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Lautaro Navarro showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. 82 minutes into the match, Legion of Boom's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Tafalla came free, but Abdi Ufki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
