Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chiquinho Vargas in the 15th minute of play. Giovanni Alagoano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. Abdi Ufki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the game, one of Legion of Boom:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexis Mac Allister helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Legion of Boom getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Alexis Mac Allister hit a great ball. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Berganza couldn't finish the play.
