With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 9thth minute, when Jucuitiba's Michel Agüero fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Doriva Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 13 played minutes Jucuitiba got a freekick which was hit by José Maria Vaz. Michel Agüero succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 16th playminute. 19 minutes into the match, Jucuitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Seco came free, but Doriva Figueiredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Agüero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Benjamim Simão hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Agüero in the 31st minute of play. Francisco Seco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Doriva Figueiredo having to make a save. Joaquin Gayoso made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Michel Agüero sent off a good shot on target. Doriva Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Alberto Gisbert hit a great ball. 38 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Agüero came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Doriva Figueiredo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Francisco Seco struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Doriva Figueiredo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uruguay. Doriva Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Guilherme Romero kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Michel Agüero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Doriva Figueiredo made a huge save. 59 minutes into the match, Jucuitiba's goalkeeper Doriva Figueiredo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Michel Agüero struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jucuitiba. Jucuitiba's Michel Agüero got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute Michel Agüero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, Jucuitiba's goalkeeper Doriva Figueiredo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. Doriva Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 85th minute of play. Alberto Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Gisbert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 87th minute of the match Luiz Guilherme Romero shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquin Gayoso showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Francisco Seco's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Doriva Figueiredo firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 96th minute of the match, Francisco Seco got a very nice opportunity to score, but Doriva Figueiredo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Doriva Figueiredo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
