Uruguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Gamberro the free kick. In the 6th minute, Alberto Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 8th minute Maximiliano Escribano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Pascal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Deportivo Gamberro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelo Orti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Pascal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Maximiliano Escribano went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Bruno Pascal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 26th minute of play. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Deportivo Gamberro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Cordaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Deportivo Gamberro getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Primitivo Cordaro hit a great ball. Bruno Pascal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bruno Pascal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Deportivo Gamberro's Bruno Pascal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 40th minute of play. Roman Reynardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Uruguay were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bruno Pascal made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. Deportivo Gamberro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Francisco Seco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Deportivo Gamberro's Igor Havier was substituted for Tony Manerov. In the 71st minute, Igor Havier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When Francisco Seco came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Uruguay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Seco couldn't finish the play. After 77 played minutes Deportivo Gamberro got a freekick which was hit by Niceto Perpinya. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Deportivo Gamberro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Cordaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niceto Perpinya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. Deportivo Gamberro's Bruno Pascal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Gamberro from getting a goal against them. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Gamberro's Niceto Perpinya. But to his dismay, Niceto Perpinya quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Deportivo Gamberro's Bruno Pascal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Gamberro from getting a goal against them. Uruguay's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
