Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Carlos Alberto Azevedo made the kick off and thus started the match. Teodoro Peio came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luis Andino. But to his dismay, Luis Andino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 7th minute of play forced Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Teodoro Peio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Teodoro Peio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 14 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio. Teodoro Peio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 17 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Baldomero Rodas who took care of the corner kick. 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Baldomero Rodas. A collision led to Atlético Nacional getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Jacinto Eliazar hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute, Carlos Alberto Azevedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Atlético Nacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafin Theodore didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

Teodoro Peio made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. 53 minutes into the match, Atlético Nacional's goalkeeper Teodoro Peio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. In the 55th minute, Carlos Alberto Azevedo made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Teodoro Peio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodoro Peio having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Carlos Alberto Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teodoro Peio made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. When Vicente Sasoin came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Atlético Nacional fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Sasoin couldn't finish the play. Agustín Saelices who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Teodoro Peio when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Teodoro Peio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match.
