An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Paulo Linhares in the 7th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th match minute, São Paulo da Floresta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandu Ţipirig to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Sandu Ţipirig managed to get in a good position for a shot. The São Paulo da Floresta fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
