In the 14th minute of the match, Xosepin Uruñuela tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Antonio Arias hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. Xosepin Uruñuela who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Placido Trabado came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Mesere fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Placido Trabado couldn't finish the play. In the 52nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Luis Andino got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Charis Manatakis quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 57 minutes into the match, Mesere's goalkeeper Charis Manatakis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
