The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Modesto Farto was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Modesto Farto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Through an outstanding action, after 32 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Made in Paraguay's Modesto Farto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of play. Modesto Farto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 39 minutes Made in Paraguay's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Modesto Farto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severo Labora in the 42nd minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
