Thanks to some nice moves Fredy Montero could shoot a difficult shot in the 43rd minute, which Jonathan Ferrant however easily saved by the left post. In the 44th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Sporting Clube de Gaya booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 48 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Ahmet Koralp Tükel got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sporting Clube de Gaya had won after a very even match.
