Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry McCray, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Joaquin Gayoso stood somewhat misplaced when Claudio Fioravanti came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 23 minute. A sloppy throw-in by Marcin Fronczak in the 26th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert. In the 27th minute, Claudio Fioravanti ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Claudio Fioravanti scored 4-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 34 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Modlau's Claudio Fioravanti fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After having played for 41 minutes, Claudio Fioravanti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Modlau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudio Fioravanti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Seco made a kick off. Modlau's Barry McCray got a good chance for a goal in the 50th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudio Fioravanti in the 51st minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 53 minutes, Claudio Fioravanti made it 6-0 with a short kick to the right side. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 87thth minute of the game Claudio Fioravanti who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Camilo Covarrubias hit a great ball. Modlau's Zula Sanocki was substituted for Toni Kroos. Lew Yashin was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jaime Cazalla. 93 minutes into the match, Claudio Fioravanti notched a goal, 8-0, to the right of Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
