The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Júlio Gentil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vito de Godoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Matos Velhos's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Vito de Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito de Godoi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Vito de Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 35th minute of the match. Vito de Godoi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariano Lacasa's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Vito de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 42nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Chile's Gerardo Pozo got a free kick in the 46th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mariano Lacasa to make the kick off. Bo Stam hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. In the 52nd minute, Kristofer Luht hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mariano Lacasa in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vito de Godoi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Vito de Godoi made a huge save. In the 56th minute Chile were awarded a corner. Mariano Lacasa went to the cornerflag to take it. Vito de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 61st minute of play. Chile were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after Matos Velhos's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Lacasa took the corner. Chile's Mariano Lacasa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Vito de Godoi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vito de Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vito de Godoi, 1-2. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Vito de Godoi made a huge save. 80 minutes into the match, Júlio Gentil had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thiago Pliego. Chile's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Júlio Gentil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Kristofer Luht kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Mariano Lacasa could shoot a difficult shot in the 86th minute, which Vito de Godoi however easily saved by the left post. Júlio Gentil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. After some careless play in the Chile defense, Sabino Vilhena kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thiago Pliego. The Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thiago Pliego should have stopped the shot. Jiang Qing Lin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chile's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
