Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Luisito Antequera took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronaldo Medeiros saved Montevideo from getting behind. When Bray McJon came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Montevideo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bray McJon couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luisito Antequera in the 8th minute. In the 10th minute, Mário Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olavo Matorin, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. If Olavo Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Christian Passos hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 18th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bray McJon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luisito Antequera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. If Olavo Matorin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisito Antequera in the 37th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bray McJon in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronaldo Medeiros was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Ronaldo Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Christian Passos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ronaldo Medeiros firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Antequera in the 58th minute of play. Luisito Antequera recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Antequera in the 68th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 70 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wilson Fernandez who took care of the corner kick. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 76th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Medeiros having to interfere. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Montevideo's Olavo Matorin. But to his dismay, Olavo Matorin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
