Phil Porter was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. FC LIVERPOOL's Phil Porter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 18th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 24 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute of the match, Pere Montaña got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Phil Porter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 37 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pere Montaña. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC LIVERPOOL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ursus Martin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Phil Porter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Phil Porter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 52nd minute of play forced FC LIVERPOOL's goalkeeper Phil Porter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phil Porter made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. In the 75th minute, FC LIVERPOOL's Fred Santos seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Fred Santos the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC LIVERPOOL protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fred Santos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Phil Porter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute of the match. The referee ignored FC LIVERPOOL's protests and gave Pere Montaña a yellow card for diving instead. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC LIVERPOOL! The FC LIVERPOOL fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
