The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 44th minute. After 44 played minutes Peru got a freekick which was hit by Joaquin Prats. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Pacorro Aguilar made the kick off in the second half. Alonso Berganza made in the 51st minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Moises Gayoso however managed to control. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwin van der Sar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Pero Falla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Pero Falla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦'s Edwin van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦ from getting a goal against them. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦ throughout the match.
