A hard and well directed shot from Rubens Senna led 11 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Mexico's Dante Lacasa became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 1-0. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Felix Luque hit a great ball. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jiang Nan Han in the 23rd minute of the match. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Luca Postelnicescu made in the 28th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mexico's Luca Rouco. After 32 minutes, Alberto Tafalla made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Vila Nova FC's Fiori Mota tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Luca Zorita got a free kick in the 38th minute. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mete Nared in the 43rd minute. Vladimir Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. In the 47th minute Vladimir Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Vila Nova FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Mete Nared hit a great ball. Mexico's Alberto Tafalla got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fiori Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 57th minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Vila Nova FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Fiori Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Postelnicescu came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 73rd minute Mete Nared shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Gaona got free with Fiori Mota in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 90th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Tafalla to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 92 minutes, Cléber Basso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vila Nova FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cléber Basso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 93 played minutes Vila Nova FC got a freekick which was hit by Jiang Nan Han. Fiori Mota made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joel Gaona in the 95th minute. Vila Nova FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Mexico for a fine match.
