Julian Murillo scored 0-1 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eleuterio Urbez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Despite being the better team, Peru failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
