Facundo Cadaval kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute, Dale Dolar made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alberto Tafalla in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patricio Ugutz saved Barcellos Mineiro FC from getting behind. Patricio Ugutz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Joel Gaona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 32nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Patricio Ugutz. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Wambasther Robben managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barcellos Mineiro FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Wambasther Robben was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 36 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Patricio Ugutz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Ugutz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Leoz made in the 40th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Lautaro Mancebo however managed to control. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dale Dolar in the 45th minute. Patricio Ugutz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 47th minute of play.

A collision led to Barcellos Mineiro FC getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Amerigo Gervasi hit a great ball. Patricio Ugutz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 57th minute of play. Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Luca Zorita managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Luca Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Patricio Ugutz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luca Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Dale Dolar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. Barcellos Mineiro FC's Jorge Carrascal was substituted for Dale Dolar. Barcellos Mineiro FC made a substitution. Carlos-Henrique Casemiro replaced Tião Paraíba. The supporters of Barcellos Mineiro FC booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Mancebo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Barcellos Mineiro FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
