Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Celil Zabit made in the 36th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Stoycho Basmadzhiev immediately put the ball in play. The supporters of Peru booed when VN SOKOLI-VARNA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stoycho Basmadzhiev didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Lilko Timov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antonio Tenorio in the 90th minute of play. Peru were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after VN SOKOLI-VARNA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eliseo Mina took the corner. Peru's Eliseo Mina was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lilko Timov in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 92 minutes into the match, VN SOKOLI-VARNA's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Gallo came free, but Lilko Timov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than VN SOKOLI-VARNA throughout the match.
