After 15 played minutes, ROSÁRIO SPORT's Aílton Neiva shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ROSÁRIO SPORT reached it. Aílton Neiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Ismael Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Wellington Gerber might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wellington Gerber ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Wellington Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot. ROSÁRIO SPORT's supporters rose to their feet, but Wellington Gerber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 35 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wellington Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. In the 43rd minute of the match Lúcio Dionísio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

ROSÁRIO SPORT's Wellington Gerber got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 53rd minute Lino Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 61 minutes, Lautaro Puig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the ROSÁRIO SPORT players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 61st minute. João Carlos Oliveira came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Axel Tasis. But to his dismay, Axel Tasis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a rather tough play, ROSÁRIO SPORT's José Pedro de Amaral got a free kick in the 71st minute. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aílton Neiva in the 73rd minute of play. In the 74th minute, Wellington Gerber ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After 77 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. In the 78th minute of the match Aílton Neiva sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball. Ismael Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lino Zonta in the 82nd minute of play. 82 minutes into the game, Lino Zonta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 86thth minute of the game Wellington Gerber who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Wellington Gerber came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wellington Gerber in the 94th minute of the match.
