With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hannes Dresdner prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 22 minutes into the match, Black Dragons's goal looked a bit too open when Dino Maquiano came free, but Hannes Dresdner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the game, Kickers United's Dino Maquiano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hannes Dresdner made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Lode Rouvroys might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hannes Dresdner. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olaf Kochowski made a great header on Kickers United's corner, it was just that Black Dragons's Hannes Dresdner managed to reach the ball for a save. Toon Adriaensens's late challenge caught a Black Dragons's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Toon Adriaensens helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Black Dragons booed when Kickers United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toon Adriaensens didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Kickers United's Hannes Dresdner threw himself towards the right post 70 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lode Rouvroys, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Lode Rouvroys managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kickers United's supporters rose to their feet, but Lode Rouvroys was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hannes Dresdner breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Kickers United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Kickers United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
