Edwin van der Sar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tor Hjeltman in the 10th minute of the match. Dabi Saens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Lars Köhler made a huge save. 21 minutes into the match, Buffalo Bills's goalkeeper Lars Köhler had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jerónimo Furtado. 38 minutes into the match, União Sport Clube Paredes's goal looked a bit too open when Ricart Mendiguren came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edwin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tor Hjeltman in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dabi Saens in the 42nd minute of play forced Buffalo Bills's goalkeeper Lars Köhler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ricart Mendigurens short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Edwin van der Sar to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. It was Dabi Saens who took care of the corner kick. 80 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when União Sport Clube Paredes's Alexandre Santana fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Jerónimo Furtado put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lars Köhler. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tor Hjeltman got free with Edwin van der Sar in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 95 minutes, Alexandre Santana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Sport Clube Paredes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Santana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
