The Flying Dutch fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 27 minutes into the match, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goal looked a bit too open when Victor de Salles came free, but Carlinhos da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 28 minutes, Paulo Pontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the E.C 2 Janeiro RS and the Flying Dutch players grew even worse after the yellow card. Flying Dutch's Arthur Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Valadares in the 32nd minute of play. Carlinhos da Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathan Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Carlinhos da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Fonseca in the 42nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marco Valadares got free with Arthur Amorim in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

After a rather tough play, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Válter de Sousa got a free kick in the 61st minute. E.C 2 Janeiro RS:s Carlinhos da Costa showed great skill when he stopped Eurico Batista:s penalty. Arthur Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marco Valadares went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the E.C 2 Janeiro RS defense, Jonathan Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlinhos da Costa. The E.C 2 Janeiro RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlinhos da Costa should have stopped the shot. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalkeeper Carlinhos da Costa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Flying Dutch's Victor de Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Jonathan Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flying Dutch's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonathan Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jonathan Fonsecas short, quick shot in the 88thth minute got Carlinhos da Costa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. João Adolfo Cruz hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match.
