A beautiful save bye E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Vasco Mineiro FC booed when E.C 2 Janeiro RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dário Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Valadares took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelo Vidal. Marcelo Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marco Valadares in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcelo Vidal saved Vasco Mineiro FC from getting behind. In the 22nd minute Haroldo Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlinhos da Costa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Periklis Vasilarakos in the 23rd minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Marco Valadares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelo Vidal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Marcelo Vidal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marco Valadares's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After a rather tough play, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's João Francisco de Mendonça got a free kick in the 34th minute. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Carlinhos da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinícius Esteves in the 35th minute of play. Frederico Lago could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Carlinhos da Costa made a huge save. In the 41st minute, Basílio Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute, Frederico Lago left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vasco Mineiro FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vinícius Esteves made a kick off. Periklis Vasilarakos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlinhos da Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. 52 minutes into the match, Periklis Vasilarakos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlinhos da Costa. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Periklis Vasilarakos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. After a rather tough play, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Paulo Pontes got a free kick in the 57th minute. Carlinhos da Costa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Vinícius Esteves went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. 66 minutes into the match, E.C 2 Janeiro RS's goal looked a bit too open when Frederico Lago came free, but Carlinhos da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Vasco Mineiro FC fans' excitement grew in the 66th match minute when Vasco Mineiro FC's Vinícius Esteves looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Vinícius Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasco Mineiro FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vinícius Esteves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Frederico Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlinhos da Costa came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco Mineiro FC's Vinícius Esteves. But to his dismay, Vinícius Esteves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-2. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's Carlinhos da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardinho Maia in the 83rd minute of play. Periklis Vasilarakos took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlinhos da Costa. Carlinhos da Costa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-2. Bernardinho Maia struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Carlinhos da Costa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vasco Mineiro FC.
