Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Themos Leontiadis in the 3rd minute of play. 3 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Themos Leontiadis came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zisis Chronidis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Panionios MK's Erik Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 9th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Allan Corrigan in the 11th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Mexico's Felix Luque. Luca Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Vale having to interfere. After 16 minutes of play, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erik Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Erik Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Argyris Ksagorarakis's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Argyris Ksagorarakis helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Panionios MK fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! Panionios MK:s Erik Vale showed great skill when he stopped Joel Gaona:s penalty. Themos Leontiadis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. It was a well-played corner which Luca Zorita managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 33rd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute, Panionios MK's Zisis Chronidis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Allan Corrigan was the one to do the kick off. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. It was a well-played corner which Luca Rouco managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Panionios MK's Erik Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Panionios MK from getting a goal against them. After 60 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Luca Rouco. Allan Corrigan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Erik Vale threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Gaona, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Erik Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 65th minute of play. Erik Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Facundo Cadaval kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Erik Vale made a huge save. Panionios MK's Erik Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 94th minute of play.
